Ramadan Feast 2027 and Feast of Sacrifice 2027 dates
The Ramadan Feast 2027 starts on Tuesday 9 March and ends on Thursday 11 March; the eve starts on Monday 8 March at 1 pm, 3.5 days in total. The Feast of Sacrifice 2027 starts on Sunday 16 May and ends on Wednesday 19 May; the eve starts on Saturday 15 May at 1 pm, 4.5 days in total. In a Monday–Friday workplace the Ramadan Feast takes three full working days and one half day, the Feast of Sacrifice three full working days.
The 19 May overlap. The fourth day of the Feast of Sacrifice falls on 19 May, Youth and Sports Day. The day is a holiday on two grounds but it is still one calendar day: the law counts 15.5 days, while the 2027 calendar has 14.5 separate holiday days. Holiday pay for working that day is also calculated once; two grounds do not double it.
What changes from 2026. Fixed holidays keep their dates; religious holidays follow the lunar calendar and move about eleven days earlier each year. The Ramadan Feast moves from 20 March (2026) to 9 March, and the Feast of Sacrifice from 27 May to 16 May. The 2026 list stays in the 2026 public holidays guide.
How many 2027 holidays fall on a weekday?
In a Monday–Friday workplace, 12 working days of the 2027 holidays fall on weekdays: 11 full days and two half days. In a six-day week the figure rises to 13.5 days, because 1 May and the eve of the Feast of Sacrifice fall on a Saturday.
| Working pattern | Working days on a holiday | Calculation |
|---|---|---|
| Monday–Friday | 12 days | 11 full days (1 Jan, 9–11 Mar, 23 Apr, 17–19 May, 15 Jul, 30 Aug, 29 Oct) + 2 half days (8 Mar, 28 Oct) |
| Monday–Saturday | 13.5 days | Plus Saturday 1 May (full) and Saturday 15 May (eve, half) |
| Falling on a weekend | — | Sunday 16 May (first day of the feast); in a five-day week also Saturday 1 May and 15 May |
A public holiday that falls on the weekly rest day does not add a working day off. In shift workplaces the weekly rest day differs by person, so the count differs by employee; timesheets compare the holiday calendar with each person’s own working days.
Long weekends and bridge days in 2027
In 2027 five holidays fall on a Friday or Monday and create long weekends on their own; the two feasts and 15 July can stretch to up to nine days with a few days of annual leave. The table shows calendar options only; a day becomes a holiday only by law or by the employer’s decision.
| Period | On its own | Extended with leave (Monday–Friday) |
|---|---|---|
| New Year | 1–3 January, 3 days | — |
| Ramadan Feast | 8 March 1 pm – 11 March | Leave on the morning of 8 March and Friday 12 March: 6–14 March, 9 days |
| 23 April | 23–25 April, 3 days | — |
| Feast of Sacrifice | 15 May 1 pm – 19 May | Two days of leave on 20–21 May (Thursday–Friday): 15–23 May, 9 days |
| 15 July | Thursday 15 July | One day of leave on Friday 16 July: 15–18 July, 4 days |
| Victory Day | 28–30 August, 3 days | — |
| Republic Day | 28 October 1 pm – 31 October, 3.5 days | — |
As of 1 November 2026, when this guide was updated, no bridge days or administrative leave for the public sector had been announced for 2027.
- Public-sector administrative leave does not bind private employers. It is granted to civil servants by a Presidential circular. In the private sector a bridge day is a day off only through paid leave granted by the employer, annual leave taken by the employee, or make-up work.
- Make-up work. If work stops before or after national or public holidays, or the employee is given leave at their request, the employer may require make-up work within two months; it is not overtime, may not exceed the daily maximum and may not exceed three hours a day (Labour Law No. 4857, art. 64).
- Annual leave. National holidays, weekly rest days and public holidays falling within annual leave are not counted as leave (art. 56). An employee who takes 20–21 May off uses only two days of leave.
Religious days and kandil nights in 2027
These are the kandil nights and religious days on Diyanet’s 2027 list. They are not public holidays: they are normal working days with no effect on working time or pay. The only religious days that are holidays are the Ramadan Feast and the Feast of Sacrifice (in the list above).

| 4 January 2027 | Monday | Miraj Kandil | 26 Rajab 1448 |

Source: Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), list of religious days for 2027 (read on 1 November 2026). Dates are the Gregorian dates given on the list. Miraj Kandil appears twice in 2027 because the Hijri calendar shifts against the Gregorian one.
What it means at work. Ramadan runs from 8 February to 8 March. A fasting employee’s request about shifts, breaks or the iftar time is not a statutory right, but moving the meal break is at the employer’s discretion as long as the break is not shortened. Break lengths do not change (art. 68): 15 minutes for work of up to four hours, 30 minutes for four to seven and a half hours, one hour for longer work.
Download the 2027 public holiday calendar
Add the whole list to your calendar with one file: 2027 public holidays calendar file (.ics). Full days arrive as all-day events; the three eves arrive as events from 1 pm to midnight. Dates are generated from the table on this page; if the table changes, the file changes. Kandil nights are not holidays and are not in the file.
- Google Calendar. On a computer: calendar.google.com → Settings → Import & export → choose the file → choose the calendar → Import.
- iPhone. Tap the link in Safari and choose to add the events to Calendar. If it does not open, email the file to yourself and tap the attachment in Mail.
- Separate calendar. Import into a separate calendar such as “Public holidays 2027” so you can hide them all at once at year end.
Half-day eves and working on a holiday
The holiday on an eve starts at 1 pm; work in the morning is a normal working day (Law No. 2429, art. 1–2). In 2027 the eves are Monday 8 March, Saturday 15 May and Thursday 28 October. The eve of the Feast of Sacrifice falls on a Saturday, so it has no effect in five-day workplaces.
- Holiday pay. Pay is not cut for a national or public holiday not worked; if the employee works, an extra day’s wage is paid (Labour Law No. 4857, art. 47). For the calculation see the public holiday pay guide and its calculator.
- Whether to work. Whether work is done on these days is agreed in the collective or individual employment contract; without such a term, the employee’s consent is needed (art. 44).
- Shifts. A shift crossing 1 pm is split: in an 8 am–4 pm shift, 5 hours are normal work and 3 hours are holiday work (before deducting the break).
Setting up the 2027 calendar in timesheets
Set up the year’s calendar once in December: full days as “public holiday”, eves as half days split at 1 pm, and 19 May entered as one day. Shift plans and annual leave requests are then checked against it; leave days that fall on a feast are not deducted from leave.
In our workforce management system the company calendar and the public holiday calendar feed into timesheets; clock-ins on weekly rest days and public holidays are not blocked, the employee is asked and the manager is notified. The public holiday work report gives holiday days worked per person (full day 1, half day 0.5); your payroll adviser calculates the amount. Details: timesheets.
This guide is for information only and is not legal or payroll advice. Your collective agreement or employment contract may contain more favourable terms.
